Canon’s Press Release:
TOKYO, August 30, 2007—The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA), Europe’s premier consumer technology awards association, recognized two Canon digital cameras and a Canon SLR camera lens with prestigious “Best Product” awards. The Canon EOS-1D Mark III was named European Professional Camera 2007-2008; the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens was voted European Professional Lens 2007-2008; and the Canon PowerShot G7 was awarded the title of European Advanced Compact Camera 2007-2008.
Canon EOS-1D Mark III: European Professional Camera 2007-2008
The EISA Photo Panel lavished praise on the EOS-1D Mark III, calling it “the ultimate camera for press, sport and wildlife photography.” The camera is equipped with a 10.1-megapixel APS-H size CMOS sensor and features a fast continuous shooting speed of 10 frames per second. The EISA judges concluded: “For speed, flexibility and build quality there is no DSLR to compete with Canon’s EOS-1D Mark III.”
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens: European Professional Lens 2007-2008
The lightweight, compact EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM L-series telephoto zoom lens incorporates an Image Stabilizer that compensates for the equivalent of up to four shutter speeds. Complimenting its weather- and dust-proof construction, the EISA Photo Panel said the lens “goes far beyond the capabilities of other telephoto zoom lenses.”
Canon PowerShot G7: European Advanced Compact Camera 2007-2008
The PowerShot G7 delivers 10.0-megapixel resolution and features a 6X optical zoom lens equipped with an optical image-stabilizing technology. The EISA judges noted the camera’s “remarkably low” level of image noise even up to ISO 400, calling the G7 a “great camera for demanding photographers who prefer a more portable alternative to an SLR.”
The EISA Awards are chosen annually by panels representing nearly 50 prominent photo, video, audio, home theater and mobile electronics magazines from almost 20 European countries, recognizing new products that combine the most advanced technology, the most desirable features, the ultimate expression of design, the most satisfying ergonomics and the greatest value for money.
